As the largest affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, we work collaboratively with our state and national affiliates and other stakeholders in the community to educate the public, advocate for legislation, reduce stigma, and improve the mental health system.

Spirit and Self

Live On Purpose

The pressures of life got the best of me. I FELT hopeless, alone and rejected. NOTE: I am the youngest of six with over thirty nieces and nephews, a host of cousins and extended family. I had this during my suicide attempt and still have family support and assistance, but at the moment it did not feel that way. I allowed myself to rehearse the pain and focus on negative thoughts.

(Excerpt from Live On Purpose by Mrs. Kimberly Adegboye.)

Financially Speaking

In the recent mass shootings, lack of adequate mental health care was cited in these cases prompting calls for a stronger mental health system.
